I have been stalking this man and the events he creates for a few years now. Everything he touches is beautiful in my eyes and his personality just melts my heart. When he plans an event he goes to town. He tears the boundaries of social norms for a wedding down and replaces them with creative and inspiring pieces of art. He turns a plain Jane wedding reception into an experience that no guest will forget. He stays away from the mundane and adds spice to everything and that truly is how I like to mold the events I plan. I like to go that extra step and I strive to make the event stand out and personalize it to the client.
When a guest leaves an event they memories they hold are the sights, sounds, and smells that they encountered. The room itself does not have to be extraordinary but what that room contains will make all the difference. These little details can be done on a budget too and that is what makes it so much more fun. You don't have to have a "platinum wedding" to make your event stand out and be loud and proud.

When your guests arrive at your reception, they should be
wowed. Of course you want them to enjoy every part of your wedding… but the reception is where they’ll dine and spend most of their time, so this is where you should
really aim to impress. There are many elements that must come together beautifully—almost magically—to elicit those oohs and ahhs from your guests… and your tables and table accessories are a huge piece of the puzzle.
Start with your table shapes. I’m all about mixing them up! A room filled with all round tables topped with all the same centerpieces is cookie-cutter and boring.
Instead, try a combination of long and round tables with at least two different floral designs to match. Or position two eight-foot tables end to end so guests face each other at dinner—they’ll feel like they’re at a royal banquet! Another fabulous concept (my favorite!) is to set tables in an X shape, using one square table as the center of the formation and positioning one or two double-long tables at each of its four sides. If your venue is large enough, you could even create two X’s in your room and fill the spaces in between with round tables. This set-up not only encourages mingling, it also makes an incredible visual statement!
Your centerpieces and floral designs should also vary from table to table. Something as simple as varying the heights of your arrangements makes a big difference in the overall look. Also, never underestimate the impact of your linens, chairs, and place settings. Choose these carefully so they match your wedding colors, concept, and style.
Here are some more ways to wow your guests:
- For a romantic effect, decorate your tables with candles of all shapes and sizes—from tea lights and low votives to thick pillars and tall taper candles.
- Have your lighting pro illuminate your tables with pinspots (tiny beams of light) or washes (soft, unfocused lights that can add color to each table).
- Be bold with your floral designs! Go for a monochromatic look with different flowers reflecting a single color scheme or group complimentary or contrasting colors together in a single arrangement.
- Make a fresh statement by using grapes, pomegranates, lemons, apples, or pears in your floral centerpieces.
- In lieu of flowers, use plants to decorate your tables. A topiary or potted plant, or a cluster of various types of greenery offers a whimsical vibe.
- Accent your linen napkins with something special, such as a single orchid, rosebuds, mini calla lilies, a beautiful ribbon, or a sparkling napkin ring.
